This programme is specifically designed for graduates in law from non-Common law jurisdictions (notably Mainland China) who wish to acquire an expertise in Common Law as it is practised in Hong Kong and in other common law jurisdictions.
The curriculum for the Master of Common Law extends over one academic year of full-time study. Teaching is in English and candidates shall be required to have an adequate standard of English.

Programme Entrance Requirements
Applicants must comply with the General Regulations and fulfil the following requirements
(1) Hold a degree of Bachelor of Laws with at least second class honours or an equivalent qualification from a university or comparable institution in a non-common law jurisdiction
(2) Applicants who do not have a bachelor's degree with English as the medium of instruction are required to satisfy the English language proficiency on the basis of one of the following recognized English tests:
(i) Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - A score of 97 or above (internet-based test) or 593 or above (paper-based test); or
(ii) International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - An overall band score of 6.5 or above;
in each case, for admissions purposes, the test score report is regarded as valid for two years.
