‘The Global Lounge as an International Centre for Students is a symbol of our role as an education hub, which provides support to all HKU students from around the world. This facility does not only benefit international students, and we believe that through interaction our international students will also help our students in Hong Kong become truly global citizens.’

HKU Global Lounge: A Place Where the World Meets

The HKU Global Lounge is an international centre that fosters intellectual exchange and a venue for HKU students to showcase their multicultural talents. Since opening its doors in November 2005, the Global Lounge has been positively received by students and a wide range of collaborators. The facility benefits international students and creates an environment that enables them to mutually communicate with our Hong Kong students.

The Global Lounge serves as a platform for the cultural diversity elements that the University proudly embodies, with the continued growth of its international student population. The Global Lounge is a venue for all kinds of interactions, informal gatherings and multicultural and international activities, such as cultural nights, exhibitions and concerts. It offers a unique experience to students and has established itself as a social and cultural hub at HKU.

The Global Lounge is located on the ground floor of the Fong Shu Chuen Amenities Centre and can comfortably seat around 100 people. It includes an outdoor patio area, a library with international reading materials, an indoor café and the International Affairs Office. The centre is open to all HKU students.
