DSE achievement Scholarship Package for Local HKDSE Students for 2020 Admissions
7 x 5** or more President's Scholar:
1. A one-off scholarship of $300,000 to be awarded at entrance to the University
2. A one-off scholarship up to $200,0001to support a study abroad opportunity at top overseas universities such as Cambridge, Oxford, Yale, etc2
6 x 5** 1. Entrance scholarship to cover the annual tuition fee ($42,100), renewable.

1The scholarship value shall follow the approved scholarship scale and correspond to the study abroad opportunity to which you are accepted. If other funding/scholarships are made available to support the study abroad opportunity, only the funding/scholarship with the highest amount will apply.

2Applicable to the following categories of programmes administered by the International Affairs Office or pre-approved by the Faculty: Worldwide Plus Visiting Programme I, Worldwide Plus Visiting Programme II, Short-term Abroad Programme, HKU Worldwide Undergraduate Student Exchange Programme, and Faculty-level Exchange Programme. The International Affairs Office's prevailing policy and regulations on study abroad opportunities apply.

To provide support to 2020 HKDSE candidates whose learning have been disrupted abruptly by COVID-19, HKU has established the HKU REACH (Recognition of Achievements) Awards for BA, BSS, BSC and BENG students. This award aims to recognize their hard work, encourage their exploration of broader disciplines and offer more support to them upon their admission to University.

The award is by school nomination ONLY. Successful students will be awarded a one-off scholarship of HK$20,000. Nomination of students meeting the following criteria is welcome:

  • Have a predicted score of 32* or above in the Best 5 HKDSE subjects (with reference to HKU New Scoring System)
  • Whose families may have financial difficulties

Nominated candidates will be required to fill in a personal statement and may be invited for interview. They will be offered the award upon successful admissions to HKU BA, BSS, BSC and BENG programmes through JUPAS.

Students should approach your school if you wish to be nominated. School administrators may return the completed and signed nomination form to HKU via email connectu@hku.hk by 8 July, 2020.

The Scholarship shall be awarded to academically outstanding year one students, who are admitted to the BSW programme with a total score of 28 or above in any 5 best HKDSE subjects in category A and / or C, excluding Mathematics Extended Part (Module 1 and 2) in the HKDSE examination.

The value of award ranges from HK$20,000 to HK$50,000.

The scholarship will be awarded to selected students admitted to the suite of Bachelor of Arts and Sciences (BASc) programmes.

The scholarship shall be awarded to outstanding first-year undergraduate students enrolled in any of the aforementioned BASc programmes. The scholarship shall provide awardees with a series of elite mentorship and training opportunities, in order to widen their exposure, enrich their studies and nurture their passion to innovate and challenge existing boundaries.

Award

Successful students will be awarded the following benefits:

A one-off scholarship of HKD 20,000 to be used as a start-up fund, or in activities to support innovation;
Opportunity to receive mentorship from HKU academics, alumni, and members of HKU's iDendron, the University's innovation and entrepreneurship hub;
Participation in activities from i-Dendron to enhance perspective and planning for innovation and entrepreneurship.

This scholarship is offered by the HKU-SCF FinTech Academy with funding from the Standard Chartered Hong Kong 150th Anniversary Community Foundation (SCF) exclusively for local students admitted to the BASc(FinTech) programme with outstanding academic performance as shown in the results of the relevant public examinations. Each year, there will be up to eight entrance scholarships at the value of $50,000, with the possibility of renewal to a full scholarship of $200,000.

6937 Global Engineering and Business Programme

Top JUPAS entrants will be awarded a scholarship offered by the Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Business and Economics, with a total amount of $40,000 in their five-year study.  Awardees will also be invited to join the Faculty of Engineering Dean’s Club.

Dr Patrick S C Poon Scholarship in Actuarial Science

  1. The Scholarship shall be awarded annually to first-year candidates who are freshly-admitted through JUPAS to enrol in the 4-year Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science programme with the most outstanding entrance records, renewable based on satisfactory performance in each year’s study in the programme.
  2. Candidates for the Scholarship are normally expected to have the following academic achievements, or better, in one sitting:
    1. Level 5 in HKDSE English Language;
    2. Level 5* in three HKDSE subjects other than English Language. Mathematics Extended Part (Module 1 or 2) can be included in lieu of Mathematics.
  3. In addition to academic achievements, a candidate’s performance in an interview, if arranged by the Selection Committee, and a candidate’s expedient need for financial assistance would also be taken into account as helpful supplementary information in the selection. The Scholarship shall be of the value of HK$50,000 each, whilst an additional HK$10,000 will be awarded to those successful candidates who have achieved Level 5** in HKDSE English Language, or who require expedient financial assistance during their studies.
